CM's Grievance redressal cell: Cases disposed, not settled
4/12/2016 10:58:49 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: In J&K, the only online public grievance redressing system with Chief Minister's office is functioning, albeit on a flawed and faulty mechanism as the authorities at helm have been considering the complaints so received from people as disposed by simply forwarding to the concerned departments without seeking a follow up report on the action taken in the cases. With new incumbent Mehbooba Mufti having assumed CM's office, expectations are high to streamline things with the system.
Sources said the authorities dealing with CM's grievance redressal cell have been making claims on having disposed off a sizable number of the complaints received last year but not all the cases are settled or solved in real sense. The department had received 29234 grievances out of which the authorities claimed 28378 cases were disposed off till 31-10-2015. Rest 856 cases were stated to be under follow up procedure, sources said while quoting the figures.
When PDP-BJP alliance government led by Mufti Mohammad Syed took over last year, the CM's redressal cell claimed to have settled 976 cases out of 1470 complaints received during 10 month long tenure. 503 cases left were stated to be under process of disposal. However, notwithstanding the claims of settlement so made have not offered any relief to the people who have sent their complaints through mails, simple posts or personally delivered the letters explaining their problems and grievances, said the sources in the department. Public is often misled with one liner replies to their cases which seldom serves their problems.
In one such case bearing complaint number 24203 one liner reply was sent to the complainant after one year which served him no purpose of registering the case with CM's grievance redressal cell, sources said while referring to the cases of aggrieved people. In this case the complaint was sent and registered on 2-7-211 while as the reply to this case was given in 8-8-2012. In the reply it was simply mentioned that complaint has been forwarded to the concerned department . Interestingly, this complaint was also considered in the list of disposed off cases , said the sources adding that the complainant has been running from pillar to post in the JDA with which the matter was involved but it is far from being settled . The status of this case with all other such so called settled cases is there on the website too, but in real sense there is no relief to the complainants.
There are many complainants who have been harassed by staff with the CM's grievance redressal cell for the reason that they raise questions and eventually they have been compelled to surrender and asked to accept whatever reply the authorities have given while mentioning its status, sources said.
