Jammu, Apr 12 : Amid 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' chants, around 350 outstation students of NIT Srinagar today staged protest in this winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Carrying banners and placards the students since last night reached here and assembled at Khalsa College ground and marched towards the Press Club of Jammu. The protestors shouted slogans 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and 'NIT shift karo' and took out a rally. The students alleged that they were confined in the campus and somehow managed to escape from the valley. Yesterday, around 1000 outstation students skipped the examination but locals appeared. NIT drama started on March 31 when locals celebrated victory of West Indies against India in T20 World Cup. On April 3 they were brutally beaten by the Jammu and Kashmir police when they were rallying with tri-colour in hands in the campus. Meanwhile, students later dispersed and proceeded towards Railway Station to board the train for their residences across the country. |
