Weather to turn wet again from today, partly cloudy sky

Srinagar, Apr 20: Weather woes will continue during the next four days though it was a dry but yet another cold day in the Kashmir valley where the Sun was playing hide and seek since this morning after recording above normal minimum temperature.
The weather will remain dry though the sky would be partly cloudy in Jammu and Kashmir, a MeT department spokesman said here. There could be scattered, widespread, fairly widespread and isolated rain or thundershowers in the Kashmir valley from tomorrow for subsequent three days. Wet weather is also predicted in Jammu from tomorrow till April 23 while in Ladakh region there could be scattered and isolated rain on April 22 and 23 respectively, he said.
Despite rain the minimum temperature in the Kashmir valley remained above normal while the maximum temperature yesterday was three degree to six degree below normal.
Gulmarg, the world famous ski resort of Gulmarg remained coldest in the valley after the minimum temperature witnessed a drop due to fresh 4.8mm rainfall during the past 24 hours. Against yesterdays 3.5 degrees, it was 2 degree which is being considered normal during this time of the Spring season. However, the maximum temperature yesterday there was 8 degree, three notches below normal.
Pahalgam , famed health resort in south Kashmir also recorded drop in the minimum temperature after witnessing more than four notches below normal maximum temperature due to 3.6 mm rainfall. Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Kokernag and Kupwara also received rain during the past 24 hours resulting in drop in the maximum temperature by three to six degrees yesterday. Though minimum temperature also witnessed drop but it was still normal or above normal at these places.
After recording 4.5 degrees below normal maximum temperature, people woke up to a partly cloudy sky in the summer capital, where all major roads or totally damaged, disrupting pedestrian and traffic movement.
The minimum temperature, however, was about a degree above normal in the city despite 0.7 mm rainfall. The MeT spokesman said there is possibility of light rain or thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 19 degrees and 8 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in the city. There was improvement in the minimum temperature at Leh and Kargil in the Ladakh region, he said, adding that against yesterday's 2.8 degrees minimum temperature at Leh it was 3.1 degree. At border town of Kargil it was 3 degree, he said.
The sky would be partly cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 18 degree and 4 degree respectively during the next 24 hours in Leh.
He said there would be partly cloudy sky and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 33 degree and 21 degree respectively during the next 24 hours at winter capital, Jammu.
