Early Times Report
RAJOURI, APR 20: After violent clashes between groups of students at the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) here on Monday, the university administration has set up a five member committee to probe the circumstances leading to tension even as normal class work resumed today.
Groups of local and non-local students had clashed over some disagreement on resumption of classes on Monday after three-day holidays and three vehicles had been torched by 'miscreants'. Insiders said that amid uneasy calm, the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University opened today morning and classes resumed although there was thin attendance of local students.
"Situation limped back to normalcy since early in the morning and everything was back on track by afternoon", said a student.
Meanwhile Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Javed Masarat said that such "nuisance and undesirable activities will not be tolerated".
"We have framed a five member inquiry team headed by Head of Biodiversity Studies department. The team will assess the damage while all the trouble makers will also be identified", the VC said.
He said that trouble makers will not be tolerated and stern action will be taken against all those found guilty of creating trouble in the institution.
Meanwhile Rajouri police has also registered an open FIR in the incident against those people who were part of stone pelting and also set ablaze the vehicles. "A case in FIR 199/2016 has been registered in police station Rajouri and the troublemakers who will be identified by university administration will be booked in the case", police sources said.
It is pertinent here to mention that violent clashes erupted between local and valley based students of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University of Rajouri yesterday over a minor issue.
In two hours long clashes heavy stone pelting took place while three vehicles were set on fire and seven vehicles badly damaged in stone pelting.
Some students had also claimed that certain local people from outside the university campus were fomenting trouble and creating discord between local and non-local students.
