JU ignores findings of probe committee, fails to act against marks card fraudsters | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 20: In another startling case of marks card scam surfaced some time back in the campus, the highest authority of Jammu University known for cowardly tendency not to act swiftly against wrong doings by defaulters to curb their sinister designs, is once again showing hesitation to implement findings of committee which was constituted for inquiring into the reasons behind issuance of fictitious marks cards to students despite submission of the report to the Vice Chancellor. The sources informed Early Times that during course of investigating the marks cards scandal by three members committee headed by Prof. Neeru Sharma, HOD Home Science, it was revealed that marks cards book bearing serial No. 2300 with 100 leaves was surprisingly missing from the record of examination wing as three students whose fake marks cards were seized, had reportedly carried serial numbers from within untraceable marks card book further added, alleging that it appears to be a big nexus between middlemen and officers of examination wing who are running big marks cards racket stealthily which, if unearthed through high level independent probe, may roll many important figures dealing with the functioning of examination wing and fall within the grip of investigating agency for weeding out the black sheep to streamline one of the important wings of the varsity. The sources told that University inquiry committee recommended for referring the case to police for lodging First Information Report (FIR) to further conduct sifting investigation in the wake of relevant record surprisingly missing from office of Controller of Examination, debarring the defaulting students from appearing further in examination, shifting of staff of concerned section sitting in examination section since years together. The sources in the University further told that pretty long stay of some personnel in examination section have monopolized the affairs of the section and have become invincible with the process of time due to long stay at one place. Castigating the weird style of functioning of Vice Chancellor, the sources expressing their astonishment said that inquiry report submitted by the committee to the office of VC is licking dust there despite its submission one month's ago with the higher authority still unmoved and unable to take cognizance of the gravity of the case reportedly conveyed by the committee in its report, further added, saying that the authority at the helms of affairs in the university seems to be in no mood to initiate stern action and straingly afraid of the impending big marks cards scandal which may ultimately emerge following in-depth probe by agency other than local committees, further said, bemoaning that it may ostensibly be an attempt to shelter the defaulters hell bent to tarnish the image of University, which is the public domain and not the fiefdom of few persons occupying responsible chairs. |
