Rajouri people see irrgularities in NFSA beneficiary list

Rajouri, Apr 20: Ch Zulfikar Ali, Minister for CAPD immediately after resuming the charge of the department had said that all the corrections in the lists for the beneficiaries under National Food Security Act (NFSA) will be completed on or before April 15.
Despite assurances by the Minister, people in many areas in Rajouri district still complaining about many irregularities committed by the Patwaris & other government officials responsible for preparing the lists of beneficiaries under NFSA.
Sadiq Mohd, Mohd Shokat and many other resident of village Jata Daggal in Kalakot tehsil have alleged that the concerned officials have committed many irregularities while preparing the lists
"Many families which were getting ration under BPL category since a long time have been shown in the lists of APL category, many names are missing while many rich families have been figured in the list of Below Poverty Line (BPL) beneficiaries" said Mohd Rashid.
To register their protest many affected villagers approached Mohd Iqbal, Naib Tehsildar who assured to resolve their genuine demands soon.
Meanwhile inhabitants of Sunderbani tehsil have alleged that the CAPD department has not supplied Flour (Atta) as well as Sugar to the APL consumers for the last more than three months.
Naresh Sharma and many others said that though the consumer under BPL category has received the ration yet the department has to release ration for the consumers of APL category.
On the other hand inhabitants of Phali Btahmna in Kalakot tehsil alleged that right under the nose of CAPD officials and tehsil administration their ration dealer has been selling ration in the black market and providing ration to the ration card holders at higher prices.
"Ration dealer selling rice & wheat to BPL category ration holder at Rs7 & Rs 6 respectively while APL category consumers paying Rs11 for Rice & Rs 9 for wheat" said Vijay Kumar.
He added the matter was raised several times with the tehsil officials as well as with tehsil supply officer (TSO) but no action was taken against the dealer.
P.Gandotra,tehsil supply officer while talking to local reporters has assured to visit the dealer and said that action under law, including cancellation of licence, will be taken if found guilty.
