Police detains SPO allegedly involved in animal theft | | | Early Times Report Rajouri, Apr 20: On the disclosure of arrested bovine smugglers, Rajouri police have arrested a special Police Officer (SPO) posted at District Police Lines (DPL) for his involvement in the theft of the animals and association with the bovine smugglers. "The accused SPO has been identified as Shafayat Hussain (SPO No.421) son of Ghulam Mohd r/o village Rehan who allegedly is associated with a gang of bovine animal smugglers," police sources said. They said that using influence of his uniform accused Shafayat Hussain was helping his associate to smuggle animals from Rajouri district to Kashmir Valley. "He himself was involved in the theft of the animals from various places in the district and was handing over to his gang members for further transportation, police sources said. Sources said, "On the disclosure of the accused SPO, police have recovered 11 bovine animals from different places. Immediately after the arrest of the SPO his associates have gone underground and police is in action to identified their hideouts and to arrest them. Meanwhile police have booked accused SPO in case under FIR No.180/16 u/s 379RPC. |
