Mendhar town glaring example of administrative apathy | | | M S NAZKI POOnCH, Apr 20: Mendhar town is the one of the most embarrassing examples of non-performance of the administration and the state government. The Mendhar tehsil is one of the largest tehsils in twin border districts of Poonch and Rajouri, still has not been granted the status of Municipal Committee or Town Area Committee despite being one of the oldest towns in the state but the locality is being deliberately ignored by the government. The street lights are dysfunctional for years and the town has been reduced into a huge garbage dump in the absence of any sanitation system. The multiple issues faced by the residents have generated lot of anger and disappointment against the politicians who promised heavens to the people before elections and did nothing for them on ground. A huge garbage dump in front of the tehsil office, the main landmark of the town that swells everyday mocks at the administration and creates problems for the residents and passersby. The general secretary Beopar Mandal, Mendhar, Khurshid Ahmed Khokar criticized the government for deliberately ignoring the town and tehsil and compelling the people to live in unhygienic conditions. He asked the government to immediately start a cleanliness drive to clean the locality and save people from the foul smell, which can result into any fatal epidemic. The president youth association Mendhar Rameez Raja also pooh-poohed the coalition government for utter neglect of Mendher town. |
