JKNPP stages protest in support of NIT students | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 20 : Expressing solidarity with the nationalist students of NIT seeking redressal of their grievances, a contingent of Panther party activists led by Harsh Dev Singh and Yashpal Kundal State President Young Panthers along with other leaders staged a protest demonstration in their support at Exhibition Ground Jammu on Wednesday. Harsh Dev Singh regretted that while the student fraternity of NIT was boiling with rage, the State government remained apathetic and sluggish over the issue which may have serious ramifications all across the country. Deploring the row in which the nationalist students were abused, assaulted and manhandled for upholding the sanctity of Tricolour. Expressing concern over the issuance of fresh notification by the registrar NIT Srinagar dated 16/04/16 for resumption of classes in the said institute from 18th April despite a highly appalling atmosphere in the campus as well as in Kashmir valley, Harsh Dev Singh revealed that nearly 2400 non local students who were protesting for their demands in the Union capital would be prejudicially affected by the said notification as they had already missed their minor-I exams. Flaying the NIT like episode in Baba Ghulam Shah University at Rajouri which led to violent clashes between two groups and burning of vehicles, Yashpal Kundal said that amnesty given to the anti nationals in NIT Kashmir and slapping criminal charges against the nationalist students had further emboldened the fringe elements to go berserk and create frenzied atmosphere in the University campus. He demanded that the felons should be arrested and booked under sedition charges without any delay and cautioned that any further laxity in curbing the situation could lead to explosive domino effect on other parts of the state and the country.
