Anantnag, Apr 21: National Conference president and former Union Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Thursday said that Kashmiris Muslims "love Pakistan and it can't be removed with money."
"What happened in NIT Srinagar? We were told Muslims raised noise. But it is fact that Muslims here love Pakistan. How can Farooq Abdullah remove that love from their hearts?" Farooq asked saidwhile addressing a function at Khanabalhere. The function was organized to mark first death anniversary of senior NC leader and three-time MLA Abdul Gani Veeri.
Farooq said that if New Delhi "continues to oppress people here this love for Pakistan will grow stronger and people will bury us too."
"When you (New Delhi) will oppress people, love for Pakistan will grow stronger and these people will bury us," Farooq said, adding New Delhi thinks money can buy Kashmiris.
"They (New Delhi) don't know that Kashmiris will gobble money but will never change," he said.
Suggesting internal autonomy on both sides of Jammu and Kashmir as a solution to Kashmir problem, Farooq said that Indo-Pak love land of Kashmir, not Kashmiris.
"I speak honestly; both the countries love land of Jammu and Kashmir, not the people. I want to see the day when we people will cross over to other side freely," he said, adding that friendship between the countries will pave way for resolution of problems.
Indirectlyaccusing separatists of benefitting from the turmoil, he said, "Here are those groups as well who mint money from both the countries. They don't want the resolution of problems."
Farooq also targeted the ruling PDP.He said that Kashmir has lost honour since the new government took over. "He (Mufti Syed) was feeling dejected in his last days as he told Prime Minister in Srinagar to hold talks with Pakistan but Prime Minister Modi snubbed him and told him that he doesn't need anybody's dictation on Kashmir. If I would have been in his place I would have kicked the chair," Farooq said.
He claimed that National Conference would come to power again in state and asked party men to bring honest faces particularly in Panchayats.
"Yesterday I attended a high profile function in New Delhi. Participants there most of them high profile politicians and intellectuals told me that National Conference is coming to power but I responded by saying that Almighty will bring us to power as Kashmir deserves peaceful days," he said.
Abdullah urged the people to not vote those who promised to stop invasion of BJP-RSS 28 seats but later joined hands with them for power.
Later, interacting with media, Abdullah welcomed the removal of bunkers in Handwara and said that many more bunkers should be removed.
