How businessman-politician engineered ouster of Omar's chum from NC | | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 21: Resentment is brewing within the rank and file of the National Conference over the unceremonious manner in which a senior leader and once close buddy of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was impelled to walk out of the party by a Jammu based businessman politician of the National Conference. Sources in the party divulge that many a grass root level workers and party office bearers are anguished by the exit of the senior party leader who has been long time party loyalist and eloquent voice of the party in the border belt of Jammu. Sources also allege that the influential businessman politician of Jammu, who is an important office bearer of the party, hatched a conspiracy to see the back of this leader who has been an old time buddy of Omar Abdullah. "The senior party leadership was continuously misled by this businessman politician that the ousted leader was misusing his position in the party and conniving with the land mafia which was projecting the poorly in the public eye" said a senior party office bearer from the border belt pleading not to be named. "He has been party's youth president and later district president and has kept the party flag flying in Jammu in difficult times; he was targeted by a sustained misinformation campaign by this business man politician" he added. Several other voices of anguish and dissent within the party allege that if someone has used the party platform most for his personal growth and drawing undue benefits, it is this businessman politician himself and he has no locus to raise fingers on the others. "He used his contacts with Abdullahs to the hilt to flourish his business when Farooq Abdullah and later Omar Abdullah were Chief Ministers and now he is accusing others of misusing their party positions" said another party office bearer in Jammu. The influential businessman politician also has the discredit of engineering a coup to oust once highly influential NC leader who was former Advocate General and political advisor to the party patriarch Farooq Abdullah. "He unceremoniously took over the room of Farooq's political advisor in the party head quarters in Jammu, showing him the door of the party that he was associated with for generations. Meanwhile, it has been reliably learnt that the ousted border leader is likely to join Congress Party along with several of his supporters sooner than later, giving a deep dent to the National Conference in Jammu. |
