Early Times Report SAMBA, Apr 21: In an alleged case of misuse of power, an Inspector posted as SHO of a police station in Samba district has booked at least two employees of an adda fee contractor, following his refusal to shell out more 'bribe' money. Police sources said the SHO called up the contractor a few days back and allegedly asked him to increase the monthly police share of bribe if he wanted to run his operations smoothly. Though the two deliberated upon the issue for nearly a month, the contractor expressed his helplessness to increase the bribe amount, sources said. "When, even after a month-long deliberations, the contractor sent him less money, he did not accept it and decided to use his power to extract more money from him," sources alleged. On behalf of the contractor, some influential persons of the area also spoke to the SHO and asked him to let him do his work of adda fee collection without any police interference, but all in vain. "To build pressure on the contractor so that he shells out more money, the SHO has now booked two of his employees in a fake case of adopting unfair and fraudulent means and taken into custody one of them," sources alleged. "By doing so, the SHO has shown police power to the contractor and made it clear to him that he can't do work in the area without his support," sources said. |
