Kulgam, May 16: Militants on Monday evening shot dead a civilian in Batapora area of this southern district.
Police identified the slain as Manzoor Ahmad Pala s/o Abdul Gani Pala, a resident of Batapora Qaimoh Kulgam.
They said that militants fired him at his native village, when he was returning to home, this evening.
40 years old, Manzoor Ahmad is a Carpenter by profession.
Credible source told Early Times that a local Militant Altaf Kachroo, affiliated with Hizb-ul-Mujahdeen could be behind this gruesome killing.
Sound of fired bullets created panic in the area and shatters of shops came down with no time.
Police, army and CRPF arrived on the spot and launched a manhunt to nab the attackers.
In Kulgam, Qaimoh and Kudwani areas are most volatile and often hoggs headlines for anti-government protests and militancy related activities.
The public in these areas is too supporting the militancy and anti-national activities. |
