Early Times Report

Jammu, May 16: A tehsildar, presently posted somewhere in a hilly district, is under scanner as during his tenure as Patwari in the area, he had allegedly issued 'fard intikhab' in the name of a dead person.
Police have initiated a probe. The multi-crore scam has attracted the attention of Crime Branch (CB) and Gandhi Nagar and Domana police stations. It came to limelight when one Jai Singh of Domana lodged a complaint with Domana police station, alleging therein that registry of 18 kanals of land at Nai Basti was shown to have been done by his father who died way back in 1984.
He also alleged that his father Kehar Singh was allotted 18 kanals of land at Nai Basti and it was then Nai Basti Patwari Sukhdev who informed him that the land, belonging to his father, had been sold and its registry was shown to have been done by his dead father.
Jai moved court which forwarded the case to Crime Branch, Jammu, for a probe. The CB, during verification, came to know that two fake death certificates had been issued in the name of Kehar Singh. On the basis of CB report, the court had cancelled the registries made in 1986 and 1987 as Kehar had died in 1984.
Following the CB disclosure, Domana police registered FIR No 114/2016 under sections 420,467,468 RPC against those persons who got issued fake death certificate of Kehar Singh.
Sources said during investigation, the name of then Patwari of Nai Basti, now tehsildhar, had surfaced in the land scam.
The case had also reached Police Station, Gandhi Nagar.
