Early Times Report

srinagar, May 16: Despite a ban on Khyber Dairy products by the court, the company's hoardings about the banned toned milk and curd are installed along the walls of Civil Secretariat in Srinagar.
Just outside the official chambers of the industries and commerce minister, there is hoarding of Khyber Dairy milk for its promotion despite having banned by the court.
The hoarding installed outside a chamber of a minister says, "Registered with directorate of industries and commerce Kashmir. Investment Rs 4.93 crore annual turnover 56 crore 100 percent employment."
The people visiting the Civil Secretariat are fuming over the government's "negligence" of promoting banned products that too at the Civil Secretariat which houses offices of all ministers and top bureaucrats and is the highest seat of functioning.
"I was shocked when I saw the boarding of the Khyber milk. I even brought the issue into the notice of secretariat officials but they said they have directions from the higher authorities not to remove these hoardings," Ali Mohammad, a resident of Budgam said. "It is irony that government didn't remove the hoardings of Khyber Dairy products even after the strict directions from the Court."
Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Pampore said the hoardings at the Civil Secretariat about the banned products were giving a wrong signal. "These should be removed without any delay," he said.
Earlier, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation had removed the hoarding of the Khyber Company.
Judicial Magistrate (Sub-Judge) Budgam, Imtiaz Ahmad Lone, had directed the Commissioner Food and Safety to close down the company or ensure that its products are taken off from the market till Referral Laboratory declares them safe from consumption.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate Budgam on April 4 had held M/S Khyber Agro Farms Pvt Ltd guilty for selling substandard and unsafe milk. The court had imposed a fine of Rs 9 laks on the company and besides it had ordered six months imprisonment to the In-Charge Operations nominated by the said company.
The court had also declared Food Analyst Kashmir either incapable or dishonest and had ordered for his immediate removal. The court had also directed Commissioner Food and Safety to take all steps in ensuring that the Khyber company are closed or taken off from the market unless the Referral Laboratory Kolkatta declares that the product of the tainted company as safe to consume and products manufactured by it do not harm the nation as is proved by the medical report submitted by the SKIMS.
However, a local court has stayed the judgment of Chief Judicial Magistrate vis-à-vis Agro Farms Private Limited, however, the ban on the Dairy products of the company will continue.
