Overloading goes unabated in Poonch, traffic police in slumber | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, May 16: Over loading of passenger vehicles goes unabated in this hilly border district further making daily commuters vulnerable to life risks as the border district could boast of poor and depleted road connectivity besides plying of old busses in the district. Over loading is still a routine on the rural and hilly routes of this border district espeillay on peripheral areas where the frequency of vehicles are low and people are forced to ride on overloaded mini buses and auto rickshaws. Buses, minibuses and small passenger magic vehicles are often seen over loaded on these routes and nothing has changed on ground except statements by the officials whose hollow claims have fallen flat on ground zero as the overloaded Sumos, auto rickshaws and mini buses has become a a routine affair for the people in Poonch. Although traffic authorities claim of taking necessary steps to control overloading, but it seems only like an eyewash as overloading goes unabated and passengers vehicles could be seen over loaded with people clinging around the vehicles on various routes like Mandi to Fatehpur, Mandi to Loran, Parade Ground to Banwat route, Mandi to Swajian and others. It is a known fact that the officials of the Traffic authorities are hand in glove with the buses and minibus operators in overloading of the passenger vehicles", alleged a college going student Romesh Kumar adding, " but who cares for the common masses." |
