People up in arms over bad condition of road | | | Early Times Report Udhampur, June 15: People of Rehmati and Phangial areas of the district are up in arms against the authorities concerned over the dilapidated condition of the link roads to their villages. Sham Lal, a Phangial resident, said there were pits all over the road which had made their movement difficult. Ram Lal said though he lived only 3 km from Udhampur town, the broken village road had made it very difficult for them to move on it. Ganesh Kumar said even minibuses 'don't ply on Phangial and Kharooni roads, fearing damage to their vehicles as a result which locals were forced to board minibuses from Battal Ballian road. He alleged that while black topping of Udhamour city roads was carried out, the villagesroads had been deliberately ignored by the administration. He said it was also difficult for them to send their wards to schools during rainy days as pits 'get filled with rain water and the travel on theroad becomes very risky'. Vicky Singh, Raj Kumar and Amjad Khan of Rehmati area also criticised the authorities concerned for not repairing the village road. When contacted, PWD Xen Rajesh Gupta assured to look into the matter. |
