After declaring ABVP as outlaw, JU bans entry of BJP in campus | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 15: After unofficially declaring nationalist student organisation- ABVP as an outlaw in Jammu University and other educational institutions, Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof R D Sharma, appeared to be have banned entry of "communal" BJP leaders including party ministers in the campus. Conspicuous absence of BJP leaders including Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh in today's function to inaugurate new examination block of Jammu University is an indication that BJP is also banned in the campus. Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Vice-Chancellor Jammu University, Prof R D Sharma and Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof Ashok Aima were present in today's function but neither Deputy Chief Minister, nor local MLA nor Minister of State for Education were present in today's function. Absence of Dr Nirmal Singh in today's function has raised many eye-brows because Dr Singh, who is also faculty member of Jammu University, was very much present in Jammu city but he was not present in the function. Similarly, Minister of State for Education, PriyaSethi was also in the city but she too was absent in today's high-profile function. It is first time after formation of PDP-BJP government in J&K that none of the BJP leader including Minister was present in the official function at Jammu University. Already Jammu University has banned ABVP, which is student wing of BJP, in the campus. Now, it appears that entry of BJP leaders is also banned in the campus. Meanwhile after inaugurating the block, Mehbooba Mufti emphasized the need for reviving Jammu and Kashmir as an abode of peace, amity, communal harmony and brotherhood. She cautioned people against falling prey to the scourge of extremism and communalism, "which, if perpetuated, will only bring miseries to the people and devour the State's socio-economic fabric." "I urge upon the people, especially the youth, to come forward and contribute towards consolidating the peace and reconciliation efforts in the state," the Chief Minister said. |
