BJP holds drama in LC | | | Early Times Report Jammu, June 15: The other day, the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council witnessed a drama that was enacted by the two BJP MLCs, both from Jammu city, and exposed themselves in the process. Actually, they took exception when one PDP MLC from the Doda area described the Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts Chenab Valley and demanded a separate system for the area. It was Firdous Ahmad Tak who demanded what he called "Chenab Valley Development Department" or "Advisory Board for Chenab Valley Department", saying the neglected area deserved special care and attention. Actually, he had moved a private member bill seeking creation of "Chenab Valley Development Department" or "Advisory Board for Chenab Valley Department". It was this resolution that was criticized by two BJP MLCs, Ashok Khajuria and Ramesh Arora. They told Tak not to term the area as Chenab Valley. By opposing the term Chenab Valley, they only exposed themselves and became a laughing stock. They got exposed because the PDP-BJP agenda of alliance does call the area as Chenab Valley region. Not just this, the agenda of alliance also doesn't consider Poonch and Rajouri districts parts of Jammu province. The agenda of alliance call these districts as Pir Panjal region overlooking the fact that Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts, Poonch and parts of Rajouri districts are located in the same mountain range, called Pir Panjal. For example, the agenda of alliance says the PDP and BJP coalition government would "Restructure and strengthen the Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited as a holding company for all hydro power projects in the state" and "Earmark 2 per cent of revenues from hydro power for the development of the Chenab region". Similarly, it says that the PDP-BJP coalition government will "Set up of a new specialized high tech IT park and Bio tech parks in Jammu and Pir Panjal". It would be better if the BJP so-called lawmakers first read the agenda of alliance and then speak in and outside the state legislature. Not to do so would be only to cut a sorry figure in and outside the House. |
