Corruption charges against 71 officials of CA&PD under investigation in J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, June 15: Corruption charges against 71 officials and dealers of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) are pending with Crime Branch and State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) in the Jammu and Kashmir. CA&PD minister Zulifar Ali said this in the Legislative Assembly to a question by Dr Gagan Bhagat. He said 38 cases registered against CA&PD officials are under investigation by Crime Branch and police stations in the Kashmir valley while 37 cases are being investigated by SVO, Jammu. Six cases are under the investigation of Crime Branch, Jammu, the reply said, adding that departmental investigation is going on against four officials. The reply said that oldest case was under FIR number 49/2002 against eleven officials for issuance of foodgrain over and above the population . The officials were suspended and subsequently reinstated pending outcome of FIR. The SSP Crime Branch has reported in 2007 that the case has been closed and challaned against these officials in the court of law. In the Kashmir valley majority cases were challaned in the court. However, the reply said that all the 37 cases are under the investigation of SVO. Six cases are pending in Crime Branch, Jammu, and five of them are under investigation while one has obtained stay from high court. |
