VOK probe revealed that the steel mill owner had blatantly misled the government for illegal sanction of power load, obtaining sanction for new induction furnace and other equipments on the pretext of obtaining machinery for the mill's expansion and modernisation. VOK also found out that Jalal-ud-din, then GM of DIC, Pulwama, had, instead of rejecting the project report, forwarded the case to the director, industries and commerce, with a recommendation for favour in violation of rules. The GM and the field staff, under the garb of processing the project report of the beneficiary unit holder, had in 2015 allegedly allowed him to install induction furnace in utter violation of rules, which had also resulted in the overload of power required for running of the induction furnace. The steel unit holder, in connivance with the officials of DIC, Pulwama, and electric sub-division, Pulwama, was fiund to be running the induction furnace by consuming extra and illegal load. By acting in this manner, the officials of DIC, Pulwama, and electric sub-division had abused their official position and illegally conferred undue pecuniary advantage upon the beneficiary unit holder, thereby causing a loss to the state exchequer. Accordingly, a case under section 5(1)(d)read with section 5(2) of P C Act, Svt 2006 and 120-B of RPC was registered in VOK police station against the GM, beneficiary Mohammad Yousuf and Haji Ghulam Mohi-ud-din Mir, proprietor of Mir Steel Rolling Mills and others. |
