Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 15: The June 14 episode at Roop Nagar is part of a big conspiracy to disturb peace in the State and the Government should probe the same thoroughly to unmask the conspirators trying to foment communal trouble in the State which has suffered a during past 27 years of turmoil.
This is the general view of public in Jammu in general and Roop Nagar, Bantalab and Raipur Damana area in particular. People apprehend the hand of some agencies who are hell bent to foment communal trouble in the State to create a divide between the two communities so that the disturbance does not end in the trouble torn-State which is bleeding since 1989.
Ram Dass an octogenarian man in Roop Nagar area who is a devotee said it is a big conspiracy to create a communal divide in the State. `` The Government should thoroughly probe the matter and take stern action against the culprits responsible for the act.''
It has become a routine affair that after attack on police, security forces or civilians the accused is either termed as mentally upset or a drug addict but such theories are unbelievable'', he added.
The Government should properly investigate the matter and ascertain the facts and unmask those forces behind the episode, he said, adding how can a person whom police calls a drug addict enter a religious place and not the adjoining houses unless and until he was not influenced by certain forces to do that.
Dass said that Jammu has a history of maintaining communal amity and brotherhood despite all provocations but at the same time the government should not show any leniency towards such people who are responsible for fomenting communal trouble. There can be political motives behind the episode too and the government should probe the same so that peoples faith in law and order is restored.
The role of police has also come under severe criticism and people accuse it of not discharging the responsibility properly which led to the situation taking an ugly turn. Had the police acted in time with responsibility, the situation would not have taken a critical turn said Ramesh Kumar a youth from Muthi. ``The Government should also probe the role of the police in this particular episode as entire provocation in the matter came from police'', he added.
Kumar said the story that the youth was a drug addict and was taken to a local drug de-addiction centre seems to be a concocted story as had it been so why he chose a religious place and used abusive and intolerable language. The government should also see that if youth had any militant connections.
He said people of Jammu are peace loving and they have always given priority to national interests and never paid any attention to the forces who for their vested interests tried to foment communal trouble in the region. Even during the killings of innocent people by militants in past the Jammu people exhibited a lot of patience and did not allow anyone to disturb the age old peace in the region. So this is high time for the government to respect the aspirations of the people of this region, he added.
