Jammu, June 15: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) celebrated its 18th foundation here on Wednesday. According to press release, state president of NCP and former minister Thakur Randhir Singh inaugurated week-long celebration.While addressing the gathering Thakur Randhir Singh said that this foundation day is being celebrated at a time when the growing intolerance and the arrogance of the ruling party, pose a serious threat to the socialist, secular, and democratic setup of the society as envisaged in the constitution of the country. "No political party in the country, by itself, is capable of resisting the communal authoritarian forces", he said, and demanded fresh delimitation commission from Govt of India to do justice to the regions of Jammu & Ladakh which are clamoring for justice for last so many years for independent status.Singh further said that all the successive Govts in Jammu & Kashmir have "forsaken the rights of Jammu and Ladakh regions and of the refugees of 1947, 1962, 1965 and 1971 and Kashmiri migrants who left their homes and hearths and also the refugees of West Pakistan who are living in the worst conditions after the Independence in J& K.Others who participated in the function include Krishan Kumar Digra, G M Pal , Saifullah Khan, Javed F Rehman, Dr Liaquat Ali Magray, Satpal Sharma, Dr P D Shastri, Col Amar Singh and others. |
