Early Times Report jammu, July 6: The night-long snapped power supply today played a spoilsport in Eid celebrations in this winter capital of the state. Electricity got affected in the entire district and some other parts of the region due to last night's thunderstorm and heavy rains. Though no loss of life or injury has been reported so far from across the province, but several vehicles, buildings, temporary structures got damaged in the natural calamity. Meanwhile, Eid fever gripped the people but no electricity since last night left them dejected as they missed wishing relatives, friends through SMSes and on social sites due to non-availability of charged cell phone batteries and having no backups in other electronic gadgets. The snapped power supply threw ATMs out of order and the life remained paralysed. "Due to major rain and thunderstorm last night, power supply has been disrupted in maximum areas of Jammu," Simrandeep Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jammu here said. He said that the HT, 33 KV and 11 KV lines have suffered major to minor damage, adding, "teams are deployed since early morning and it will take few hours for restoration of power." |
