2 youth die of 'drug overdose'

Rajouri, July 6:Iin a tragic incident two youth reportedly died after taking over dose of drug in W-2 in Rajouri town on Tuesday night.
Reliable sources said that reportedly five youth were part of a group of drug addicts /peddlers and were enjoying the drugs in a room and were also gambling.
At about 8 pm one of the youth namely Liyakat Ali of Kakora (Manjakot) developed some complications and was rushed to district hospital but was declared brought dead by the doctors, reports said, adding that another youth namely Mohammad Shafiq of Chandimarh was also brought dead to the hospital at about 10.45 pm.
Dr Rakesh Gupta, Superintendent District Hospital (officiating) told media persons whether they died due to over dose of drug or after consuming poisonous substance, will be cleared after postmortem report.
According to reports, another youth namely Chhottu (nick name) resident of Rajouri town was rushed to a hospital at Jammu and his condition is said to be serious.
Sources said that Chhotu reportedly has informed the police that they had injected the drugs. Quoting Chotu, they said when Liyakat developed some complications after taking one injection another tried to bring him in conscious but it was too late.
"Later Chhotu and Mohammad Shafiq also developed complications and other two who were later was picked up by the police for questioning/interrogation from hospital," informed the family members of Chhotu and Shafiq.
"Police have conducted the autopsy and have initiated inquest proceedings u/s 174CrPC," said Rajeshwar Singh,SSP, and added, "it would be clear after postmortem report weather the youth died due to overdose of drug or due to spurious drug".
Here it needs to be mentioned that one of the deceased Mohammad Shafiq was also arrested by the police and was booked in Case FIR No.267/15 under NDPS Act. Despite every possible efforts by the senior police officers and NGOs the menace of drugs and the illegal activities of drug peddlers/treffickers have increased in the district and the drugs are either coming from Mendhar (from across the border) or from Mughal road from Kashmir valley. Recently Jammu police have arrested several drug peddlers from Kashmir and from Rajouri district who were the part of national / international drug racketeer.
