KRTA alleges non- availability of ration in depots | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 6: Kashmir Refugee Traders Association has alleged unavailability of ration for migrants at the ration depots . They also alleged that cash relief also has not been disbursed to many of the trader migrants. "This situation is faced by the migrant community at the time of important religious function like Shiva Ratri, Janamashtami,Deepawali Novratra etc. The whole Govt machinery gets geared up to provide essential commodity to Muslim community at the time of Eid. They are not made to feel necessity of anything. Some political party people help many of Muslim workers enlisted as migrants in the relief organization. These migrants are given relief and ration in time on these occasions. The Kashmiri migrant's community is discriminated on this account. Migrant traders who have lost every thing, land house movable property business and other means of livelihood are purely dependent on this relief. Delaying or with holding this relief for months makes life hard and difficult for them," said Shubanji Hakhoo, chairman Kashmir Refugee Traders Association. In the meeting the decision of the commissioner that the cash relief will be directly transferred to their accounts some months ago, the migrants opened new accounts in the various branches of J&K bank till date direct transfer of relief has not materialized. The migrant were pressurized to open these accounts. The important factor that is responsible for delay is incorporating the funds which are disbursed by the Central Govt under the security head out of which relief and assistance is given to the migrants, with the state Budget. The Funds meant for Kashmiri migrant relief must be sent directly to the Relief Commissioner as was practiced till 1996.Combining it with the main budget causes many difficulties to the migrants, it was observed in the meeting. |
