NAAC overlooks messy JU website, ineffective COE portal | JU's oblique no to digital india | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 29: National assessment and accreditation council (NAAC) is either on a holiday trip or has already made up its mind to turn a blind eye towards the shortcomings of Jammu University especially the nelson's eye that it has turned towards the digital India initiative of Prime Minister Narinder Modi. From the website of Jammu University to making wifi available in every nook and corner of the university, the administration has preferred making five star arrangements for the team and thus, getting the accreditation renewed. They have neither made any serious effort in improving the infrastructure in the university nor have they done any focussed work in improving the state of the websites of Jammu University. The main website of Jammu University www.jammuuniversity.in is neither impressive nor do the links work properly. The information available on the website is outdated and useless. There is nothing on the website that impresses or informs one who is looking for details. No link works the way it should. For the examination forms, you have stand in a queue in Jammu University since there is no way you could either fill the form online or download it. The website is so poor that you do not get the details of the staff working in the various departments of Jammu University from the website but you have to reach physically to find out who is working in Jammu University and on which position. Universities all over the country have dynamic content management but the website of Jammu University is neither dynamic nor has fresh content in it. The only fresh information available is about Vice-Chancellor of JU Prof. R.D.Sharma. NAAC seems not to be tech-savvy and after having been paid the fee of more than Rs. 6 Lakh, it is more worried about extending the accreditation of Jammu University (JU) then pointing out the shortcomings and inadequacies. NAAC has not even bothered to have a look at the website of the ineligible and 'abusive' Incharge Controller Examination Sanjeev Mahajan, the one who does not miss chance to let one and all know about political connections. The website is in complete mess. Despite Sanjeev being on the chair since July 2, 2015; the website still carries the message as well as name of ex-Controller Examination Prof. Keshav Sharma. His message dated June 4, 2013 gives one an impression that he is still heading the examination wing of Jammu University. Keshav Sharma is these days registrar of Jammu University but Mahajan's non-seriousness has kept him on the chair of controller examination as well. The links do not work and moreso, if they do work, they take you in a wrong direction. A click on the organisational chart shows that it is under construction since the day website became functional. A little deep, you find that nothing works apart from the results column of the website of controller examination. Results column is in no way any match of how the same is reflected on the website of the other universities of the country. And more importantly, a click on the link in the JU website for controller examination takes you to http://ww1.juexam.in/. The website of controller examination http://www.coeju.com/ shocks you when you open the date sheets section. The last updated date sheet is of the 2014 annual examination and the Incharge Controller Examination Sanjeev Mahajan reportedly claims of having kept the website upto date. Center notices section is also in bad shape and has nothing upto date despite claims of the university of being high-tech. And talk about the examination forms section, there is nothing to talk about. No forms are available despite this being an era where digital India is focussed aim of the government. More shocking is the re-evaluation section of the controller examination. Instead of keeping details of re-evaluation in this section, the COE has kept the prize/medal list-1 and 2 from the endowments and trusts in this section of the website. And the incharge claims of being a super-efficient officer. More shocking is that in this era, when every minute detail of the university should have been on the website of the university, the same is missing despite most of the officers of university spending quality time on abusing everyone on facebook and whats app. The departments are yet to have their own web links on the Website of Jammu University. The website of DDE is also in mess while the Registrar has no website at all. |
