Sunderbani, Sept 29: Engaged at a monthly salary Rs 1000, a daily wager with the Public Health Engineering department has warned that he will be ending his life if he is further subjected to mental hardship.
The daily wager Rajinder Kumar, son of late Krishan Lal, of Nohoti, Sunderbani, was posted at village Nohoti on a paltry payment of Rs 1000 per month before he was ordered by the AEE Sunderbani to be posted at Sunderbani station, nearly 20 kilometers from his village. The only son of the family, Rajinder lost his father at an early age while his mother Bimla Devi is battling cancer. The hapless daily wager is left with no option but to make the family's both ends meet on Rs 1000 that includes huge sum of amount to be spent on his ailing mother.
Talking to Early Times, the mother-son duo had once expressed desire to end up with their lives for being unable to cope up with the financial needs to run their chores coupled with heavy medicine bills.
"However, I was managing the affair at my village with paltry Rs 1000.
Since past six months, even though I did not receive the salary, I was managing the house affairs from little earnings received by doing petty works of the other people," said Rajinder. Since his transfer to Sunderbani from Nohoti, Rajinder has faced severe hardships.
"Any vehicle from Nohoti to Sunderbani charges Rs 25 fare on one side that amounts to Rs 50 per day while Rs 20 is spent on lunch at the roadside eatery.
Receiving Rs 1000 per month from the department costs me Rs 2100 per month including fare and food which is astronomical and out of reach," pleaded a hapless Rajinder. Sources said the AEE and JE concerned of the tehsil got some directive from the local BJP MLA to shift Rajinder from Nohoti to Sunderbni.
"If my trauma doesn't end, I would be left with no option but to commit suicide as I have no source to look after my mother," said Rajinder. He said if he takes the extreme step, the AEE and JE of PHE Sunderbani should be held responsible for it.
