| Use of Prade Ground allowed for Dussehra | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 29: A high court division bench of first puisne judge, Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice B S Walia today allowed the application filed by the state to perform Dussehra festival at Parade Ground from October 4 to October 11 next.
It was stated in the application that Dussehra was being held at Parade Ground for the last more than 10 decades. It was urged that a part of the ground was required for a minimum period of one week to organise the Dussehra event and this court by virtue of its November 11, 2014 order had directed that in case this playground was to be used for any purpose other than the one pertaining to sports, prior permission from this court was required to be obtained.
It was precisely for this reason that the present application had been filed in this court. After hearing counsel for the parties, HC said since the traditional festival of Dussehra was being celebrated on the same ground for over 100 years, there would be no reason to make a deviation this year from the past practice.
With these observations, the court allowed to use Parade Ground for Dusshera festival. (JNF) |
