SMVDU Scholars' present research work | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 26: Research Scholars of Human Genetics Research group of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Katra, presented their research work. According to press release, scholar Indu Sharma and Varun Sharma presented their research work at an International conference organized by Scigenome research Foundation (SGRF) at Cochin. Indu Sharma was awarded with scholarship by SGRF for her research work. Over 1200 national and international researchers attended the conference over the theme NextGen Genomics, Biology, Bioinformatics and Technologies. The presented study Exploring the whole mitogenome and understanding Human maternal lineages of Jammu and Kashmir, India has been carried out under supervision of Dr. Swarkar Sharma and Dr. Ekta Rai. The study has been funded by Human Genographic Project, National Geographic Society, USA. The study indicates that population of J&K is conglomeration of population present in Eurasia and Indian Subcontinent and the preliminary analysis indicates that migrations to the region, deep in time and recently through various invasions, were not exclusively male specific, contradictory to the much common hypothesis of peopling of India. |
