| Contractual lecturer appointed 'third' warden of girls' hostel | | GDC Kathua Principal's unwarranted largesse | | Akshay Azad

Jammu, Oct 26: The Principal of Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua had made a contractual lecturer warden of the Girls Hostel, which already had two permanent Assistant Professors, putting in there and working as wardens.
Moreover, to appoint the contractual lecturer as warden of Hostel, the hostel committee was reconstituted by the Principal, which had objected to make a contractual as lecturer, which already had two wardens.
Sources informed Early Times that the Hostel committee of GDC Kathua was headed by Convenor Tejinder Kour, while Dr. Ambika, Dr. Anupama Arora, Dr. Deepshiksha Sharma, Dr. Sunita Raina were members.
"The issue to make the contractual lecturer as warden of Hostel was moved in the meeting of committee, which was objected by some members of committee, who were surprisingly thrown out and new members were inducted", sources said, adding that the new Hostel Committee was headed by Convenor Dr. Tejinder Kour while Kailash Kumar, Pankaj Nandan, Dr. Sunita Raina, Dr. Sumnesh Kumar and the contractual lecturer were made members.
"The contractual lecturer was made warden of the hostel despite the fact that Dr. Sunita Raina is warden of hostel and Dr. Anupama Arora, who putting up in the Girls hostel is resident warden of hostel", sources said, adding that the office of Hostel warden was converted into a room for the contractual lecturer's stay.
Moreover, sources said that the contractual lecturer was made incharge of College Educational tour during last year, despite having availability of permanent and other contractual staff in the college.
"Usually, a circular was issued, seeking consent of all the willing lecturers for the education-tour but last year no such notice was published and the contractual lecturer was made incharge of the tour, allegedly on recommendations of College Principal", sources alleged, adding that even the contractual lecturer was made as Deputy Superintendent in the exams of IGNOU, UG courses beside others only to give benefits.
Rejecting the allegations, Principal of College, Dr. Netar Singh said that no such order of making the contractual lecturer as Hostel warden was issued. "The post of Girls hostel warden is lying vacant and Dr. Sunita Raina is incharge warden while as Dr. Anupama Arora is also residing there but she is also not warden. In absence of Dr. Sunita Raina, Dr. Anupama refused to take care of hostel and they usually fight, so we cannot leave the girls, unattended", he said, adding that for the Hostel warden, no extra money was paid and only the contractual lecturer was willing to be the guardian of hostel in absence of Dr. Sunita Raina.
He further said that only during Dr. Sunita Raina's absence or during vacations, the contractual lecturer remained there in Girls hostel.
Over the allegations of making the contractual lecturer as incharge of College Educational tour, Dr. Netar Singh initially said that the contractual lecturer was not made as incharge.
After repeated questions, he said that the tour was combined PG and UG courses and none of contractual lecturer was willing to go there but only the contractual lecturer expressed willingness and was allowed to go for tour.
Over the allegations of making the contractual lecturer as Deputy Superintendent during exams, Dr. Netar Singh said that not the only contractual lecturer but many other were made as Deputy Superintendents. |
