Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 26: As PCC president G A Mir dodged Congressmen in Jammu by not meeting any of them for getting their representations and claims for the significant positions in the organization, the aspirants have rushed to Delhi seeking blessings of Ghulam Nabi Azad. Others are running from pillar to post to build pressure in their support. Former minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Vinod Mishra, Ashok Sharma, and others are camping in Delhi seeking appointment with Azad and his intervention to get them suitably placed. Mishra reached Delhi on Tuesday while Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Subash Gupta and more rushed to Delhi on Wednesday. On the other hand, another aspirant for the post of district president from Samba, Manjit Singh is overbusy in securing a resolution from all block presidents of Samba district in his favour. Naresh Sharma from Kathua, who is tipped to be new State president of Congress Sewa Dal, is also lobbying hard for the post of district president, sources said. While all the aspirants are leaving no stone unturned in their favour, sources said that G A Mir has already got the names cleared for the new district presidents and inclusion in the PCC. According to the sources, G A Mir, in consultation with PCC senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma, got the list prepared and straightway met Azad, who okayed the same with a few alterations. Sources said that Mir proposed the names of Manjit Singh, Pankaj Dogra, Sardari Lal Dubey, Ashok Gupta and Hari Singh Chib as district presidents for Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur and Jammu Rural, respectively. Both Azad and Mir discussed the names and after some minor changes, the duo went to Sonia Gandhi who approved the final list, sources informed. Even as the names were finalized Tuesday morning, sources said that the aspirants reached Delhi after this development. Mishra along with his supporters, was the first to reach at the residence of Azad, who had left by then along with G A Mir to meet with Sonia Gandhi, sources said. Manohar Lal and others reached Delhi Wednesday with a hope that there may be some scope for their suitable adjustment even as it was too late. |
