AMEAK's chain hunger strike begins | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 26: The volunteers of All Migrant Employees Association of Kashmir (AMEAK) who are on a sit on dharna for the past 102 days seeking fool-proof security arrangements for them in Kashmir and release of salaries today began indefinite symbolic chain hunger strike in support of their demands at Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioners office in Jammu. "The 102 day old strike of the migrant employees has now been intensified after the BJP-PDP government showed no concern regarding the resolution of their problems with the beginning of symbolic chain hunger strike which would ultimately be converted into fast-unto-death if the government continues to harass KP employees" said Vinod Pandit, chairman All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC). Pandit said that APMCC has been supporting the cause of the employees right from the day one and now it was upto the government whether to listen to the grievances of the AMEAK employees or let the situation escalate. Speaking on the occasion senior journalist and National Spokesperson APMCC King C Bharati said that APMCC has decided to come out in full support of the AMEAK and warned the BJP-PDP government of dire consequences if it continues its discriminatory attitude towards Pandit community. Bharati said that APMCC volunteers will go for Fast-Unto Death hunger strike in due course of time if government fails to respond favourably to the demands of the employees. He also castigated the government for a recent order under which teachers have been asked to guard their schools in the night saying such a foolish order can only be passed by a nincompoop who want teachers to perform where even armed police has failed adding whether government treats teachers as bonded labour to push them to any trade it likes. He also warned the state government that harassing tactics with KP employees must stop immediately otherwise it should get ready to face some drastic steps which include gherao of ministers, bureaucrats and politicians in near future. |
