| Thanamandi resident alleges corrupt practices in RDD, MLC assures probe | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Oct 26: A delegation of inhabitants from number of villages falling in Thanamandi block of Rajouri district today met Member Legislative Council (MLC) Vibodh Gupta and alleged corruption in the implementation of MGNREGA in their area.
The delegation of people met MLC at Community Hall Rajouri and apprised the MLC with various issues being faced by them.
During interaction locals the employees of Rural Development Department (RDD) Thanamandi allegedly are involved corrupt practices due to which common masses are suffering badly.
They further alleged that from issuance of material under MGNREGA to sanction of works, officials of Rural Development Department are demanding their cut/commission from locals.
Besides this the alleged favouritism in the release of payment of works completed under MGNREGA is also on its peak as department is issuing payment only to influential people while rest are facing it hard to get their payments released even after months together.
After giving a patient hearing to the allegations raised and issued put up by people, Member Legislative Council Vibodh Gupta assured them of proper probe on their allegations.
He further assured the people that their issue will be communicated to concerned Minister on emergent level and he will recommend a probe on the payment released in Thanamandi block in last two years and utilization of funds.
"Government wants a corruption free society and whosoever will be found action under law without any relaxation will be taken in this regard," MLC said. |
