KVK concludes Swachhata Pakhwada | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Nov 1: Krishi Vigyan Kendra(KVK), Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu(SKUAST-J) concluded Swachhata Pakhwada at organic village Talwara of Reasi district in which large number of farmers of the area actively participated. The programme was organised under the able guidance of Associate Director Extension(ADE) of SKUAST-J Dr. R.K. Arora. This village has been adopted by KVK, Reasi and is known for the scientific organic farming. Dr. Banarsi Lal, Scientist & Head of KVK, Reasi started the programme with the warm welcome of the participants. He gave a detailed view on Swachhata Pakhwada and appealed everyone to become a part of this national campaign and make their efforts to clean their vicinities so that the drive of clean India can be successful. He aware the farmers that this campaign is India's biggest cleanliness drive which was formally launched by PM of India Narendra Modi on 2nd of October 2014. He talked about the teachings of Mahatma Ghandi on cleanliness and hygiene. He urged the farmers to keep their villages clean and green and emphasised on the cleaning of drinking water areas, toilets, village schools, crop fields etc Dr. Banarsi stressed on the use of organic maures and biofertilizers in the soil. He added that focus should be given on vermicomposting. He further said the farmers that by the commercial organic vegetables growing they can raise their socio-economic status by keeping healthy environment. In this campaign many queries were raised by the farmers which KVK scientist answered in a very satisfactorily way. The programme was concluded by Dr. Banarsi Lal with the vote of thanks. |
