Congress shames Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary | Two former Ministers fail to gather even a dozen people | | Akshay Azad Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 1: Death anniversary of former Prime Minister of India and one of the tallest leaders of the Indian National Congress, Indira Gandhi embarrassed the state Congress to the hilt when two former ministers failed to gather even a dozen people in a ceremony organized to pay homage to the departed leader. The huge differences among the factions of Congress party once again came to fore when a separate function was organized by two former Ministers Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and Yogesh Sawhney. On Monday, functions were organized by Congress party in various parts of state, to pay tributes, marking 32nd death anniversary of Late Indira Gandhi. The main function was organized by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) at Indira Chowk Jammu but two former Congress Ministers were seen paying tributes in a room, amid gathering of merely six people. A photograph was reportedly circulated to media, showing former Minister Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and former Minister Yogesh Sawhney commemorating the 32nd death anniversary of Late Indira Gandhi but in the photograph, there were only six people apart from two former cabinet Ministers. Sources said that the ceremony was organized in the house of one of former Ministers near Shakuntala cinema and instead of mobilizing the gathering or Congress workers, these ministers paid tributes in presence of their body guards and domestic servants. "The gathering of six people comprised of four security guards of two ministers. One person is house servant of one minister and the sixth one is reportedly also a servant but there was not a single party member in the ceremony", sources said, adding that it was only the result of differences in the Congress party. The main function of Congress party was organized in Indira Chowk, which was chaired by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Ghulam Ahmed Mir and was attended by senior leaders but former Minister Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma and Yogesh Sawhney were reportedly absent from the function, which was also evident from the press release forwarded by JKPCC, with names of these two former Ministers missing, which only showed the difference among the state unit of Congress. Moreover, two separate functions were also organized in district Kathua, which also showed the differences among rank and cadre of the Party. |
