Poonch, Nov 26: The efficiency of the Public Works Department (PWD) can be gauged from the fact that a 6 kms length road stretch from Kiker Morh to Madyal in Kasiyot, Gursai in Mendhar tehsil yet has not seen the dawn despite lapse of 12 years that too at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 Crore on this stretch. "Having a vital significance for rural population i.e. inhabitants of various villages viz. Kasiyot, Gursai, Parat, Naka Majhari and Jallanwali Gali, construction of this 6 kms road stretch was started many a times in last 12 years and bills for the said works too have withdrawn by the contractors but the completion of road yet is in doldrums resaons better known to concerned authorities", sources added. While talking to Early Times locals said the matter was brought into the notice of Executive Engineer PWD Poonch but no action was taken yet. "Then we approached the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch MH Malik, who assured an inquiry to be initiated in the matter but action is still awaited. Sources said that the resentment is brewing among the locals against the concerned authorities for their lackadaisical approach towards the construction of this link road as people of the area and its adjoining areas are facing lot of problems. Locals alleged as per official sources an amount of whopping Rs 1.5 Crore has been spent on this incomplete road in the last 12 years but the things have not improved for the local masses till date. In an appeal to R&B Minister AR Veeri, the locals have urged the concerned minister to constitute a team of officers so as to ascertain the facts and asked him why this public work has met such an ill fate. |
