Sagar turns 'spokesman' of separatists | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 26: The opposition National Conference (NC) is toeing the line of separatists and has started preaching secessionism. On one hand the NC patron Dr Farooq Abdullah had become the advocate of Pakistan, while on the other hand NC General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar on Saturday warned New Delhi of dire consequences if talks are not held with the separatists in Kashmir. "It is high time for the Government of India to talk to Hurriyat leaders and find an amicable solution to the long pending Kashmir problem. Unfortunately State Government has been dancing on the tunes of Central Government that is monitoring everything here. The incumbent government is a puppet in the hands of New Delhi that can't take a single decision on its own. Now Central Government should initiate the process and talk to the stake-holders here before situation gets out of hand," Sagar said in Srinagar. "The calm in Kashmir is deceptive. People are languishing in jails. Shutdown continues. Protests and encounters are the order of the day and still the state government believes that all is well in Kashmir. Nobody can save this government," he said. Sagar demanded that government should release all the prisoners from jails. A Kashmir watcher said, "The National Conference leaders have upped the ante as they are finding it hard to digest that situation in Kashmir is improving. Sagar is trying to appease the separatists by becoming their spokesman. NC leaders have joined the bandwagon to keep the pot boiling in Kashmir." He said the NC General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar is making the noise at this point of time to provoke the separatists and Pakistan as people are openly defying the shutdown calls and are taking on the separatists and the miscreants head on. "The provocative statements being issued by NC leaders are making people believe that opposition too is responsible for fueling unrest in the Valley," he added. An analyst said, "It's an established fact that NC made desperate attempts during the past five months to pull down the PDP-BJP dispensation. It send numerous signals to New Delhi that it's read y to join hands with BJP to form the government in JK. However, the cold response from New Delhi thwarted all the attempts of NC. Now it's making last ditch attempts by acting as devil's advocate."
