Srinagar, Nov 26: Only four flights were able to operate from Srinagar International Airport while the rest of the flights were cancelled due to dense fog, which resulted in poor visibility. Due to very poor visibility no flight could land or take off from the airport today so far, an official of the airport told . However, he said due to improvement in visibility four flights were able to operate from the airport in the evening. As many as 17 flights operated between Srinagar-Jammu and Srinagar-Delhi on a daily basis. Hundreds of passengers had to return from the airport after cancellation of flights. "We had the first flight out from Srinagar, but when we reached the airport, we were informed that the flight was delayed due to poor visibility. But after waiting for a couple of hours, we were told that all flights have been cancelled," Zaid Bhat, a Delhi-bound passenger, said. However, passengers booked for evening flights were able to travel to Delhi as visibility improved. A group of three Rajya Sabha members from the Jammu and Kashmir had met Defence Minister and requested him to make some arrangements so that flights could also operate even when there is poor visibility. |
