Major narco-smuggling bid foiled, two held with 180 kgs of Bhukki | | | Early Times Report
Kathua Déc 2: In continuation to the drive launched by Police against drug peddlers/smugglers indulged in illegal trade of drugs, Kathua Police toady achieved a major success in recovering 180 kgs of poppy straw (Bhukki) from two Kashmir based narcotics smugglers during a naka checking at Hamirpur under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh Police Station. Police spokesperson said, "The accused have been identified as Nazir Ahmed (Driver) s/o Abdul Rashid and Shakir Ahmed (helper) s/o Abdul Rashid both residents of Pampore," "On the directions of SSP Kathua Pawan Parihar a naka was laid at Hamirpur NHW by SHO PS Rajbagh Insp Ajay Jamwal under the supervision of SDPO border Ravail Choudhary, police spokesperson said. He said, "During vehicle checking a truck bearing Regd No-JK-03B/7191, coming from Srinagar was stopped and the vehicles was subjected to thorough search for suspicious movements of occupants of vehicle." "Police team recovered 8 bags of poppy straw weighing 180 kgs from the truck which was hidden along with apple boxes, police spokesperson said. A case FIR No-265/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered and both accused were arrested on the spot while further Investigations are on. |
