Rebellion in BJP's Kargil unit, Tundup resigns levelling serious allegations | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: Kargil is witnessing rebellion by BJP leaders against the state leadership of the party for allegedly communalising distribution of funds for various developmental works. According to the BJP unit of Kargil, the party leadership is working along the communal lines and distributing funds to one particular community in complete violation of the guidelines both of the MPLAD scheme and the local Constituency Development Fund (CDF) scheme. A party leader told Early Times that despite directions from New Delhi not to communalise distribution of funds, the party is not obeying to the same. It is due to this blatant violation of norms that senior BJP member from Sapi village of Choskore Constituency of Kargil district Lamchun Tundup resigned from the Kargil unit of BJP. He did not resign silently but held press conference and levelled serious allegations against local as well as state level leadership of BJP. According to Lamchun Tundup, BJP discriminated with one particular community while favouring another in a village which has never seen communal discord. He alleged that his village has three localities in which two communities used to live together. He further alleged that recently Member Parliament (MP) of Ladakh region Thupstan Chewang released an amount of Rs 3.50 lakh for one of the localities namely 'Balti Khar' dominated by one particular community Mohallah 'Balti Khar' while ignoring two other localities namely 'Chang yul' and 'Marpo yul' which are inhabited by people of another community. Referring to the tradition, Tundup said that development has always been without any discord in the entire Kargil region with both the communities standing shoulder to shoulder with each other. But the new team of BJP leaders from Kargil has started working on a divisive plan because of which people are worried about the future of the region, Tundup has said. He has accused BJP leader from Shargol Nawang Paljore of misguiding the Member Parliament (MP) of Ladakh Thupstan Chewang and the people of Balti Khar Mohallah. He has accused him of raising religious passions and trying to destroy the 700 year old tradition of communal harmony and co-existence of Sapi village. He said that the two communities of Sapi village have always worked in harmony and lived like brothers. Tundup alleged that there is strong possibility of the situation leading to riots in the region and thus, shredding to pieces the old age communal amity of this largely peaceful region. He has further said that the Nawang Paljore is leading the team which is out to destroy peace in this region. He said that Paljore is using holy dress to lead people astray. He has appealed Kargil administration and people across the state to find out facts themselves. He has requested the state leadership of BJP to take note of the happenings and try to save the sinking ship of party due to the communal agenda being implemented by those who have no social standing in Kargil. Tundup told Early Times that the sooner the party leadership acts, better it would be for the entire Ladakh region. Tundup's resignation comes as shock to the party leadership since he is known for being a highly connected politician in Kargil region. |
