Hospital Supdtt 'harasses' female Medical Officer | Police yet to file FIR due to political pressure | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 2: A female Medical Officer has lodged a complaint of harassment by the Superintendent of a premier government hospital in Jammu, but the police is allegedly trying to hush up the case. The victim has lodged complaint with the Women Cell of police at Canal Road. The accused Superintendent was summoned for questioning by the police, sources told Early Times. They said the Medical Officer had joined the hospital recently after her transfer there. As per her complaint, ever since she was posted in the hospital, the Medical Superintendent was harassing her on different pretexts. "The victim resisted the harassment by the Superintendent and warned him that she would approach police. But the latter did not pay any heed and continued to harass her," sources said. As her harassment continued, the Medical Officer finally reported the matter to the police and lodged a formal complaint against the Superintendent. Acting on the complaint, sources said that police summoned the Superintendent but did not register an FIR into the matter. According to the sources, Police is delaying action against the accused Superintendent because of his political background. "He (Superintendent) is son of a politician and former minister. That is why police is trying to hush up the case," said another female doctor on the condition of anonymity. The matter has also come into the notice of the Minister for Health and Medical Education. No action has been initiated in this regard, though. Meanwhile, a section of medical fraternity, particularly females, are agitated over the harassment of their colleague. |
