Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 2: The CID CI (counter-intelligence) wing of J&K police is all set to takeover the recent Nagrota and Chamlyal terror attacks for probe. "An official order in this regard has been issued," police sources said and added that CID CI would be forming a SIT to carry out an indepth probe into the twin Jammu attacks. "However, if Centre hands over the probe to NIA, CID CI will stop its further probe into the twin terror attacks. Any decision to this effect will, however, be taken by the government only," sources said. Since all major terror incidents in the country, including the Uri terror attack in which 20 Army jawans were martyred, are being investigated by the NIA, these two cases are also likely go to the agency. In the Nagrota attack, two Army officers and five jawans were martyred while at Chamlyal, BSF had shot dead three terrorists after they infiltrated into the Indian territory. Six BSF personnel, including a DIG, were wounded at Chamlyal. Besides other things, CID CI has been tasked to find out how the three terrorists had reached the Army unit at Nagrota and which route they had taken. It would also find out the role of locals, if any, to guide them up to the Army camp along with such a large quantity of arms and ammunition, sources said. "Till the investigation is handed over to NIA, PHQ has asked CID CI to begin its probe into the twin attacks," sources said. |
