Jammu, Apr 25: 18th Jammu District Sport Climbing Competition shall be organized by Mountaineering Association of J&K at Sprawling Buds ICSE School, Bantalab , Jammu from tomorrow onwards.
The two-day championship shall be inaugurated at 11am by Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council in the presence of Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Secretary, Press Club Jammu, Professor Lalit Magotra, President, Dogri Sanstha, Jammu and other dignitaries. Ashwani Sharma, MLA shall be the Chief Guest on the concluding day who shall also present medals and mementoes among the various winners of the competition. About 300 climbers from various clubs/institutions of Jammu district have confirmed their participation and shall vie for honors in the two day competition. However, like last year, medalists of any zonal competition have not been allowed by the Association for participation in this district level competition so as to pave way for the budding climbers to come up. Shawetica Khajuria, an international judge in sport climbing and Joint Secretary of Mountaineering Association of J&K shall be the President of Jury of the competition, Sonam Sidharth, an executive member of the Association is the Organising Secretary. Technical and logistic support shall, however, be provided by Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee, New Delhi. The championship has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council. |
