Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 25: Some 'greedy' leaders of the ruling BJP are eyeing on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), which is the second richest shrine board in India. According to reliable sources, these leaders are trying their best to intrude into the Shrine Board through nomination or some legislation for becoming a part of the decision making group and then influencing the Board for their vested interests. A senior BJP leader who is also a part of the government is also learnt to have met Governor N N Vohra, who is chairman of the Shrine Board, in his attempt to make efforts for intruding some close confidants into the SMVDSB, sources said. However, sources added, the Governor stoutly refused to consider such suggestions of the "greedy BJP leaders." The Governor "very well understands the real intentions of the BJP leaders who are eyeing on the huge donations being offered at the shrine by crores of devotees, and that is why he didn't give a second thought in saying no to take the proposed individuals into the Shrine Board," sources explained. Even as the Governor is firm in keeping politicians away from the Shrine Board, sources said that the BJP is also mulling its entry through a legislation and amending the Shrine Board Act. The amendment will envisage nomination of the local MLA and MP as member of the Shrine Board, and in this way, BJP leaders would make their entry, sources said. As the tenure of Vohra is expiring in next two months, sources said that the BJP leaders are adopting wait and watch policy till the appointment of a new Governor and then retry their entry into the Board either through direct or indirect way. |
