Groupism in ruling parties ahead of cabinet reshuffle | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Apr 25: Ahead of possible cabinet reshuffle, hectic lobbying has begun with many seeking a cabinet berth. Numerous groups have emerged in the PDP which hold closed door meetings to achieve their cherished goals, reports said. One of the groups, a source in PDP said, has five legislators. "They want at least two berths in the cabinet. They are expected to stand united to exert pressure," he said. Four law makers belong to another group, he said adding two of them have been ministers in the past. They too want to make it to the cabinet. Similarly, two ministers who had put in papers after the reshuffle in the portfolios of some PDP ministers are also making efforts to get portfolios of significant departments. The PDP leader said that both the ministers were assured of them significant departments. "They were told then that there will be reshuffle after the Parliamentary by-polls but that didn't happen," the PDP leader said. Now both the leaders have been mounting pressure on the party leadership. Similarly, several BJP leaders are trying to be part of the cabinet. "These leaders have been going to New Delhi and trying to garner support from central leaders for their cabinet berths," sources said. Sources said BJP high command will take the final call. They said Amit Shah would discuss with the senior party leaders and the RSS leaders before taking any decision. |
