65 posts vacant in DH Kishtwar | Hospital short of 19 doctors | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, May 22: Kishtwar District Hospital that caters a vast area including the areas from neighboring Himachal Pradesh and also adjoining areas of Gandoh and Thathri Sub Divisions of Doda District having population of over four lacs is lacking proper staff strength. Reports said there are 65 different posts laying vacant in the hospital including 19 posts of doctors. As per official document with "Early Times", 65 different posts are lying vacant in District Hospital Kishtwar including 19 posts of doctors which includes 10 posts of Medical Officers. Out of sanctioned 40 Gazetted posts of doctors the one post of consultant Dentist, two posts of consultant Gynaecologist, one post of consultant Paediatric (Children specialist), one post of consultant Pathologist, one post of consultant Dermatologist, two posts of consultant Anaesthesia, One post of consultant Ophthalmologist & One post of Consultant Dental Surgeon are lying vacant. Besides several paramedical posts including that of Senior Theatre Assistant, Junior Theatre Assistant, Junior Grade Nurses, Head Pharmacist, Blood Bank Technician, ECG Technician, Plumber, Dobi sweepers are lying vacant in the Hospital causing lot of inconvenience to the hospital management to cater heavy rush of patients in the hospital. The Hospital is also without ENT Specialist. The medical supply received by the District Hospital Kishtwar form the last few years is nominal as compared to the original requirement. As per the another official document available with "Early Times", out of 72 sanctioned Non Gazetted post, 28 post are lying vacant while out of 20 sanctioned posts of Class IV & others, 10 posts are lying vacant and out of 10 sanctioned posts of Safaiwali, 7 posts are lying vacant and the hospital is mostly run by the employees engaged out of Hospital Development Funds. The official sources in the Hospital informed the "Early Times", that Hospital received no supply of emergency drugs, beside no X ray and CAT Scan films were provided to the hospital out of government stores. The sources said that Hospital received only few months medical Supply in the year as a result of which Hospital faces lot of Problems during emergency services. The sources said that hospital authorities purchased most of the medicines out of Constituency Development Funds (CDF) provided by the NC MLC to cater emergency services of the hospital due to lack of supply from the government. "We receive only good supply of chlorine tablets and even if we distributed them among whole population of Kishtwar, the maximum stock of chlorine will leave with us" said a Hospital employee preferring. Anonymity. He said that Hospital management even supplied chlorine tablets to flood affected areas of Kashmir during September 2014 flood in Kashmir valley added that still a large quantity of stock remains left in the hospital at that time as well. The employees said that the hospital also lacks canteen facility as a result of which the hospital staff as well as the patients and their attendants suffered for the want of food, particularly during night hours. They said that there is also need for opening of Medical shop within the Hospital Premises so that patients could not suffer. It is pertinent to mention that nearly 1.5 lakh patients visited different OPDs of District Hospital Kishtwar while hundreds of major surgeries and thousands of minor surgeries including dental surgeries were performed in the hospital every year. |
