Now Hurriyat hopes for dialogue with New Delhi soon | Billi Ke Khawab Mein Chichde! | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, May 22: A few days after the central government announced unilateral ceasefire in Kashmir, the separatists are hoping of dialogue with New Delhi. The Hurriyat Conference M led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who is seemingly enjoying good relations with the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, is hopeful of a dialogue in near future. The Hurriyat M hinted at this development at a function held in north Kashmir in connection with the death anniversary of slain Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone in his native Handwara. Addressing people at his death anniversary, senior Hurriyat leader and Muslim Conference Chairman Prof Abdul Gani Bhat said that he was hopeful that New Delhi would soon hold dialogue with the separatists and even Pakistan. Sources said Bhat said it on the directives of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Interestingly the Hurriyat (M) headed by Mirwaiz makes Bhat speak often when talks with New Delhi are on the cards. "It has been a precedence with regard to holding of talks that such statements are often made by him (Prof) and same was done today," the sources said. For the last few months, the Mirwaiz lobby is enjoying unusual support of the government. Recently after his mere tweet that he was not satisfied with the working of the administration a battery of senior officials and even Cabinet minister Naeem Akhter rushed to Nowhatta and held deliberations with the supporters of Mirwaiz. Sources said the Mirwaiz has got feelers from the state government that there was a possibility of dialogue and thus he wanted to throw the development in public circles. "Prof Bhat didn't speak about possibility of talks for the sake of it but it was a well calculated move," said a leader of Hurriyat (M) on the condition of anonymity. He said the Hurriyat has positive inputs that government will hold talks with them. |
