Block, district coordinators of SBM without salary for 3 years | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 22: The lack of coordination between authorities of Sakshar Bharat Mission(SBM) is taking a tool on block coordinators and district coordinators, who have not received salary for the last three months. The block coordinators and district coordinators, working in the education department under centrally sponsored scheme, Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) are without salaries for the last 40 months. "Salaries have been withheld as there is lack of coordination between authorities of Sakshar Bharat Mission (SBM)," an official said. The official said that these people have moved from pillar to the post, but to no avail. "The authorities are not concerned to release their pending salaries," the official said. The scheme was taken back in March 2017, rendering around 7000 employees jobless. The aim of the SBM scheme was to provide basic education, skill development and lifelong learning to illiterates. Sources said that authorities of SBM differed over releasing of salaries. "Some believe that they should be released salaries for few months only while others want they should get all the salaries. The difference is taking tool on employees," sources said. A coordinator said that their salaries have been withheld for the last almost 40 months. "We have not received the salaries from almost last four years. We have been suffering miserably because of lack of money," he said. He said that they are not able to fulfill the needs of their families in the absence of money. "We are not able to run the affairs of our home as our savings even have exhausted. We are not able to pay the school fees of our children," another coordinator said. He said they went to the concerned authorities several, asking them to release their salaries. "Despite assurances, nothing happened with regard to the release of our salaries," he said. While a senior official said that the salaries would be released soon. "We have received the funds from the MHRD, once we get the approval from our administrative department, salaries will be released," the official said. |
