Successive Regimes Ignored Border Town Mendhar: VC SNU | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 8: Seeking attention of the governor NN Vohra and Union government towards the plight of the people of border town Mendhar of district Poonch, who are compelled to live under sub human conditions due to apathy of the successive regimes and local representatives, Dr Shazad Malik, Vice Chancellor of Sai Nath University appealed the governor and his team of advisors to do justice with the people of this border town Mendhar. The Vice Chancellor alleged that successive leaders of the area did not bother to concentrate on the real issues concerning the common people but they deliberately created an artificial gap and confrontation between different the different communities and sects so that people do not unite and make these leaders accountable. The VC who is on visit to his native district Poonch for the last 15 days had held over a dozen meeting with the youth and other prominent residents in different areas especially in border belt. Besides unemployment, shattered educational institutions, government health centers, poor road connectivity and poor power supply are gifts of incumbent and successive local representatives to the people of this town. The VC said that he is overwhelmed with the talent, aptitude and intellect of youth which he experienced during his interaction with them in educational and motivational programs and said that with little support from the government the hidden talent of the youth of these remote and border areas can be channelized which would be prudent for the nation building. He also requested the governor to pay a visit to the border towns of Pir Panchal region. |
